FAQ

Is it only for use in summer?

No, the sun damages our skin constantly, every day of the year. That’s why it is essential to use a sunscreen every day. Bella Aurora sunscreens can be applied as an everyday moisturiser or after an anti-dark-spot treatment, but every day, 365 days of the year.

Does the skin need protection from the sun on cloudy days?

Yes. Sun damage is caused by solar radiation, not by high temperatures. Solar radiation penetrates clouds, even thick clouds, and so we still need to protect our skin to prevent damage, possible dark spots and/or maintain the anti-dark-spot treatment.

How often should I apply sunscreen?

When on the beach, wearing a swimsuit and sunbathing for hours on the beach, reapply your sunscreen every two hours and after you swim and/or dry yourself with a towel. Experts recommend you apply 2 mg/cm2 evenly to the skin (this is quite a generous amount of product). In-vivo SPF trials are carried out with a 2 mg/cm2 application of product. If you use less, you may not fully benefit from the protection stated.

When you are not on the beach, for daily use of our products, there is no need to reapply every two hours, as the clothes you wear protect parts of the body less accustomed to the sun. It all depends on how long you are exposed. It should be sufficient to apply the product every time you go outside and reapply in case of heavy sweating.

What is visible light? Why is it harmful?

Visible light, otherwise known as ‘blue’ light, is all around us, from the rays of the sun to light emitted by artificial devices like laptop computers, flat screen TVs, tablets, mobile phones and even fluorescent and LED lights. The sun gives out far more blue light than your favourite technology, but the risks are exacerbated by the main hours we spend in front of screens.

Visible light penetrates the skin more deeply than UVA and UVB and has been shown to speed up the production of free radicals and the oxidation process.
